Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) Review

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (transl. Beware of marriage) is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aanand L. Rai.

Upgrade (2018) Review

Doctor Sleep (2019) Review

Doctor Sleep is a 2019 American supernatural horror film written and directed by Mike Flanagan. It is based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Stephen King, a sequel to King's 1977 novel The Shining.
The film, which also serves as a direct sequel to the 1980 film adaptation of The Shining, directed by Stanley Kubrick, is set several decades after the events of the original and combines elements of the 1977 novel as well.
Ewan McGregor plays the lead role as Danny Torrance, a man with psychic abilities who struggles with childhood trauma. Rebecca Ferguson, Kyliegh Curran, and Cliff Curtis have supporting roles.
In the film, Dan Torrance, now an adult, must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as the True Knot, whose members prey on children to extend their lives.
Warner Bros. Pictures began developing a film adaptation shortly after Doctor Sleep was published in 2013. Writer-producer Akiva Goldsman wrote a script, but the studio did not secure a budget for the film until the box office success of its 2017 horror film It, also based on a novel by King. Flanagan was hired to rewrite Goldsman's script and direct the film.
Flanagan said the film would try to reconcile the differences between The Shining novel and film. Filming began in September 2018 in Georgia, including Atlanta and the surrounding area, and concluded in December 2018.

Hello (2017) Review

Hello! is a 2017 Indian Telugu-language romantic parkour styled Action film produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni under his Annapurna Studios banner, and written and directed by Vikram K Kumar.

While chasing the thief, Seenu is hit by a car driven by Sarojini (Ramya Krishnan) and her husband Prakash (Jagapathi Babu).
They later adopt Seenu after taking him to the hospital as Sarojini promised the lord that if the boy survived she would do something good for him.
After fourteen years, Seenu (whose name is changed to Avinash) / (Akhil Akkineni) along with Junnu (whose name is changed to Priya) / (Kalyani) are both living affluent lifestyles but are not happy without each other.
He finally discovers her whereabouts on a whim by hearing a tune they created during childhood while on a wrong call. The caller says the location is a music fest, but a street thug steals his phone. So, he sets out to get it back in order to reconcile with Junnu.

Srinivasa Kalyanam (2018) Review

Srinivasa Kalyanam (transl. The wedding of Srinivasa) is a 2018 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film produced by Dil Raju on Sri Venkateswara Creations banner and directed by Satish Vegesna.
The film stars Nithin, Raashi Khanna, and Nandita Swetha in the lead roles and has music composed by Mickey J. Meyer. The film released on 9 August 2018. This Film Dubbed in Tamil As Kalyana Vaibhogam.
The movie deals with the importance of marriage and the traditional values associated with it. Srinivas "Vasu" (Nithin) is a traditional guy who believes that marriage is the greatest festival in life and not just an event, but a beautiful moment.
He lives away from his family. His cousin Padmavathi "Paddu" (Nandita Swetha) is in love with him and decides to propose him on the day he arrives. Vasu works as an architect in Chandigarh and meets Sridevi "Sri" (Raashi Khanna), who does several petty jobs for a living.
They both eventually fall in love with each other. After the marriage of their friend Priya, they both realize that they are meant for each other, and Vasu proposes to Sri. Sri is a rich girl who lives a normal life as suggested by her father, R. K. (Prakash Raj), to understand people before taking part in his business. R. K. believes that marriage is an event in one's life and is not worth wasting a lot of time. Vasu informs R. K. about his love and asks for his permission. Both families meet and agree for their marriage, much to Paddu's disappointment. However, R. K. asks Vasu to sign the premarital agreement before he marries Sri, which he does.
He then asks R. K. to promise to be present in everything that has to be done by bride's father. Vasu changes the views of R. K. about traditional marriages through his words and actions. On the wedding day, Sri's sister Kavya (Poonam Kaur) finds the agreement papers, while Paddu confesses her love to Vasu, who says that he always treated her as a friend, and even though he had not fell for Sri, he would never accept her love.
On the altar, Vasu feels it wrong to keep the secret of the agreement and apologizes to his family until Kavya arrives with the agreement. Then, R. K. speaks how Vasu changed him and tears the papers. Sri forgives Vasu, and both happily get married. In the end credits, it is told that many people's lives changed due to their wedding, including Kavya who reconciles with her husband Siddhu, from whom she wanted to divorce.

The Platform (2019) Review

The Platform (Spanish: El hoyo, transl. The Hole) is a 2019 Spanish social science fiction-horror film directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.
The film is set in a large, tower-style "Vertical Self-Management Center". Its residents, who are switched every 30 days between its many floors, are fed via a platform which, initially filled with food at the top floor, gradually descends through the tower's levels, stopping for a fixed amount of time on each.
The system inevitably leads to conflict, as the residents at the top levels get to eat as much as they can, with each level getting only the leftovers from the previous ones.
The film's cast includes Iván Massagué, Antonia San Juan, Zorion Eguileor, Emilio Buale Coka and Alexandra Masangkay.
The film premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the People's Choice Award for Midnight Madness. At TIFF, the film also secured a worldwide streaming deal with Netflix. It was released on the streaming service on 20 March 2020.

Te3n (2016) Review

Teen (stylised as Te3n; transl. 'Three') is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language mystery thriller film written and directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. This remake of the 2013 South Korean film Montage stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Padmavati Rao, and Vidya Balan in the lead roles.
It was released on 10 June 2016. The film was a commercial failure at the box office.
John Biswas (Amitabh Bachchan) is a 70-year-old grandfather who visits the police station regularly. He is desperate to find the kidnapper and murderer of his granddaughter Angela, who died eight years ago.
Police inspector Sarita Sarkar (Vidya Balan) has no clues about the case. But he continues to search for the person who caused it, despite being discouraged by people all around him, and collects evidence one by one at a slow pace.
John's wife Nancy (Padmavati Rao) is sick and uses a wheelchair. Despite personal problems, John is determined not to give up. John also regularly meets Father Martin Das (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who was a police inspector and was handling the Angela kidnapping case.
Father Martin Das tries his best in solving the case, but the guilt of being unsuccessful compelled him to leave his job and become a priest.
